BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Fee Mak joins Your Place as Patron

Your Place is proud to announce that BBC Radio 1Xtra and television presenter Fee Mak has officially joined the charity as Patron.

Born and raised in Newham, Fee brings her signature warmth and from the airwaves of her popular Sunday morning show on 1Xtra, to support our mission of ending homelessness one person at a time.

Fee has publicly backed Your Place’s campaigns in recent years, and her appointment as Patron marks a deepening of her long-standing connection. Her passion for community, combined with her experience in the media industry and work with young people, will help us reach new audiences and inspire residents – many of whom are pursuing their own creative paths.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Fee as a Patron,” said Amanda Dubarry, Chief Executive. “The impact of Fee’s support has already been significant, and her genuine commitment to support those affected by homelessness, combined with her Newham roots, make her the perfect advocate for the work of Your Place. We’re excited about what this partnership brings.”

Fee Mak said,

“Homelessness is a major issue that deserves our attention, especially here in Newham. Since my secondary school days, volunteering and giving back have always been close to my heart. I’m honoured to support the vital work Your Place is doing to empower people and change lives in my community. It’s a privilege to play even a small part in such an inspiring mission, and I’m excited for all that lies ahead!”

Based in the London Borough of Newham – which has the highest rate of homelessness in the country, with 1 in every 18 people without a secure home – Your Place plays a vital role in the community. We provide not only safe and stable accommodation, but also personalised support to help people rebuild their lives. From health services to skills training and employment pathways, we are committed to ending homelessness for each individual that comes through our doors, through personalised support.
