Harbour Project a finalist at Inside Housing Development Awards

This Spring, Your Place officially launched The Harbour Project, a unique long-term accommodation and support service for people who have had extended periods of homelessness across London. Allowing residents to receive the support they need with a roof over their head for as long as they need it, The Harbour Project is also accepting residents from all boroughs in London for the first time, and building a community of peers for mutual support

The Inside Housing Development Awards shortlist has been announced, and Your Place are thrilled to announce that The Harbour Project is a finalist in the ‘Best Supported Housing Development (Urban)’ category.

The development of The Harbour Project’s twenty-three self-contained flats impressed the judging panel, alongside the commitment to building community both within the service and connecting residents to new groups and services within the Newham area. The project also listened to a piece of research from the LOTS Hostels group, who found that people who have been in the hostel system for sustained amounts of time have expressed an interest in peer living. As a result, a core element of The Harbour Project is community building and living, with shared spaces on site to meet, relax, cook and chat together, while maintaining support from night and day key workers, and the independence of the self-contained flats.
