Our comment on the recent distressing scenes from across the country
Your Place has a zero-tolerance stance on racism and Islamophobia
Recent events we have all witnessed across the country have been deeply distressing. Many people have sought refuge in the UK in search of a safe place to call home, having fled all kinds of unimaginable danger. We stand with those facing further violence and discrimination, those who are afraid to travel and those who are not feeling safe at this moment in time. Your Place is providing relief for people in this time of acute anxiety and distress. We are working hard to support people through this crisis.
Our mission is to solve homelessness one person at a time, and yet, we can’t ignore the bigger picture. The violence and abuse we have seen are in direct conflict with our values. Migrant homelessness is a growing issue in our community, and at Your Place we have been working closely with partner organisations to address these concerns in the long-term.
Racism and Islamophobia have no place in our society, and we will not tolerate them.
