By giving to Your Place regularly from your pay, we automatically receive the tax you would have paid on the donation (this is done through your payroll department) and we do not need to claim Gift Aid back on this, so no Direct Debit is needed from you.
If you pay the basic 20% tax rate, for every £1 that you earn, 20p is paid in tax. That means if you donate £20 a month, we’ll receive the full amount but only £16 will be deducted from your net pay. If you pay income tax at the higher rate of 40%, you can donate £20 a month and only £12 will be deducted from your net pay, and at the highest rate of 45%, only £11 would be deducted.
Payroll Giving is a valuable, long-term source of income for charities. Regular donations help Your Place to budget and plan ahead, helping to make a lasting difference to people who have lost their homes.
For employers, there are many benefits to setting up a payroll giving scheme:
- It enhances your corporate responsibility programme, which helps support your reputation as an ethical business
- It shows support for the local community
- It improves employee motivation as the scheme promotes you as a responsible employer who is concerned about their welfare and the causes that are important to them. This also helps promote teamwork, staff retention and develops staff relations.
