Corporate Volunteering

Overview

By volunteering your time and offering your skills set, you could help to make a difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness. And at Your Place, there are so many ways to get involved from working directly with our residents and frontline teams, supporting events, or helping with practical jobs like our food bank and decorating.

Corporate Volunteers offer valuable support across the whole of Your Place, either on a one-off or ongoing basis. We’re always incredibly grateful for the support we are offered from organisations who have chosen to donate their time to volunteer with us, so thank you.

We are committed to involving corporate volunteers directly within the organisation to:

• Contribute to the delivery of services
• Provide different skills and perspectives, often taken from their professional experience

Our offer

Our aim is to offer our corporate volunteers a quality, well prepared and enjoyable experience. We achieve this by:

• discussing with the corporate your objectives and ours to ensure the volunteering meets all parties needs
• providing a single point of contact to support the planning and structure of the volunteering experience
• allocating experienced team member/s to coordinate the chosen/agreed activity on the day
• undertaking risk assessments
• fully supervising corporate volunteers
• capturing key moments of the volunteering day with photos/videos/quotes for publicity purposes.

All corporate volunteers will:

• receive a role description or briefing containing information about their chosen volunteer opportunity and a clear idea of their responsibilities and the support available to them
• receive a named contact to provide support, advice and guidance throughout the process to help you maximise your experience while making a positive impact on our work.
• be given induction and training appropriate to the specific role to be undertaken

“It was by far my favourite volunteering project that I have attended, and I have been to many over the years!” –  A team got their hands dirty to support us to clear out a large warehouse space, so that it would be ready for a building project to begin to create additional accommodation for people on their journeys away from homelessness.

“Bringing the team together to do something for our local community was both great fun and hugely rewarding.” –  A team used their CSR Day to transform our outdoor spaces just in time for summer. Our courtyards help improve their health and wellbeing through simply spending time outside, topping up vitamin D levels and offering additional social spaces for friendly get-togethers.
