National Lottery Funds New Role
Three-year funding confirmed
This important role will work to ensure that a gender-informed model is implemented across Your Place’s specialist women’s services and mixed-gender provisions. Your Place will always recognise the specific complexities and levels of trauma unique to women who have experienced homelessness.
Your Place is delighted to announce that it has received three-year funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for its new Women’s Development Specialist role.
What other work is Your Place currently doing with women residents?
Last September, Your Place took a huge step forward in its gender-informed model, opening its first women-only accommodation project. The project provides support for some of the most vulnerable and highest risk individuals who have often experienced high levels of domestic violence, exploitation and sexual violence.
Last month, Your Place also held its first ever women-only Sounding Board, where residents met with staff to engage with managers on key issues. Your Place wanted to create a safe space for the women to discuss issues that were specific to them. The meeting was attended by 15 women residents, and it is hoped that the attendance will grow as these women develop friendships with each other, providing them with a critical peer-support network.
